Doug's Take
We love the BMW Z3 M Coupe "Clownshoe" here on Cars & Bids, thanks to its quirky styling, mandatory 5-speed manual transmission, and great handling. This particular example features a gorgeous Oxford Green exterior finish and some nice factory equipment – including a limited-slip differential, heated seats, and a Harman/Kardon sound system. This M Coupe is also unmodified, and it's been registered to just one owner in dry-climate California since new. This looks like a great M Coupe, and I'm excited to see it on Cars & Bids.
Highlights
THIS... is a 2000 BMW Z3 M Coupe, finished in Oxford Green with a black interior.
- This M Coupe features a 5-speed manual transmission.
- The attached Carfax vehicle history report contains a gap from 2000 to 2004, though it shows no mileage discrepancies during the given time period. It also shows that this M Coupe has been registered to one owner in California since new.
- According to the build sheet provided in the gallery, notable factory equipment includes 17-inch Style 40 wheels, a limited-slip differential, a sunroof, heated seats, and a Harman/Kardon sound system. The seller reports no notable modifications.
- Colloquially known as the Clownshoe, the Z3 Coupe joined the Z3 Roadster in showrooms for 1999. Like its convertible counterpart, it used several E36-sourced parts, but it stood out with an unusual, shooting brake-like silhouette that blurred the line between a coupe and a hatchback. The M model benefited from the same 3.2-liter straight-6 as the M3.
- Power comes from a 3.2-liter straight-6, rated at 240 horsepower and 236 lb-ft of torque. Output is sent to the rear wheels via a 5-speed manual transmission.
