For sale is my 2001 BMW M Coupe in Black Sapphire metallic with Black Nappa leather. The car has just under 110,000 miles, thought that is likely to change slightly as I still enjoy driving it. The car has the very desirable S54 engine, the same one found in the E46 M3. The 5-speed transmission shifts well with no abnormalities.
This is a sunny weather car: it began life in Florida and then spent most of its years in California before I bought it, all verifiable with AutoCheck upon request. Clean and clear title, no games, no stories. The paint is in fair condition, but could use some attention. There are numerous, small stone chips on the front bumper and front portion of the hood.
The car is mostly stock, with the exception of a Clarion CD player and auxiliary XM/Sirius receiver. I have a like-new OEM BMW CD player, rare and difficult to find, included with the sale. Otherwise, there are DTM-style mufflers on the car of unknown make. The look is admittedly not for everybody, but they came on the car and do sound nice under throttle.
The engine bay is nearly immaculate and the S54 seems very healthy with no troublesome ticks or knocks. The interior is also in excellent condition, no rips or tears in either seat. I had the rear-view mirror refurbished to factory-new since the S54 cars often experience the 'lava lamp' effect of auto-dimming fluid leaking into the lens.
The suspension seems dynamic and well-sorted, but would likely benefit from a fresh set of bushings to freshen everything up. Otherwise, the car drives really well. With near-perfect front to rear weight distribution, it is quite honestly one of the better handling cars I have ever driven, especially in stock trim. If you like to drive, this car is a true pleasure.
