Seller Description

This 2001 BMW M Coupe is finished in Estoril Blue over a blue and black Nappa leather interior and is powered by an 3.2-liter S54 inline-six mated to a five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Additional equipment includes staggered-width 17” wheels, Dynamic Stability Control, a Dinan Stage 1 ECU tune, a 3.46:1 rear gear, a glass sunroof, a BMW Business CD stereo, a Harman Kardon sound system, and heated sport seats. The car was initially registered in New Jersey and relocated in 2001 to California, where it was acquired by the seller in 2005. This M Coupe has 85k miles and is now offered with partial service records, a clean Carfax report, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.

The M Coupe is set apart from the standard Z3 by a revised front bumper cover, side vents, round exterior mirrors, flared rear fenders, and quad exhaust outlets. This example is finished in Estoril Blue (335) and features a glass sunroof and a rear windshield wiper. Paint blemishes can be seen on the front and rear bumper covers.

Silver-finished 17″ Style 40 wheels are wrapped in 225/45 front and 245/40 rear Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires. Braking is handled by four-wheel discs, and the car is equipped with Dynamic Stability Control.

The cabin is upholstered in Estoril Blue and black Nappa leather (Q6ES) and features power-adjustable heated sport seats. Additional amenities include air conditioning, cruise control, a Harman Kardon sound system, a BMW Business CD stereo, and a trunk-mounted CD changer. The seller reports that one window motor does not work and a seat belt sensor does not function.

The leather-wrapped M steering wheel frames a 170-mph speedometer, a tachometer with an 8k-rpm redline, and gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. A VDO analog clock and auxiliary gauges are mounted in the center stack. The digital odometer indicates 85k miles, approximately 40k of which were added during current ownership.

The 3.2-liter S54 inline-six is equipped with six individual throttle bodies and has reportedly been modified with Dinan Stage 1 ECU software.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a ZF five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential that is said to have been changed to a 3.46:1 axle ratio.

The Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage and lists history in New Jersey and California. The seller states that the car is registered as Planned Non-operation in the state of California.

The Carfax is clean and confirms a long-term California owner. It seems to be mostly stock besides the LeatherZ Mark I armrest with HomeLink which is pretty cool. You can tell from the VIN that it's a very early S54 build.  It wasn't a pre-production car but it is marked as a press vehicle. Bidding up to $15,000.00 so far.
