Call it quirky or call it a Clown Shoe or call it a Shooting Brake, the Z3 M Coupe is one-of-a-kind and it is one of the most fun cars to drive out there. Hard to believe that there were less than 3000 ever built for North America. It is one of the most unique cars ever built in a factory.
This example is Titanium Silver Metallic over Dark Grey interior (two-tone grey with black interior) and was ordered with factory delete Sunroof (Slicktop). There are only two that were built with this configuration and this color combination and the factory ordered Sunroof Delete. Slick-tops such as this are generally considered more desirable due to the rarity and clean look. Some also say that the car is stiffer without the sunroof.
Clean title and clean Carfax. No accidents. Never tracked on my watch and I’ve found no signs that anyone before me took it on the track.
I have done my best to drive this car responsibly and maintain it based on best practices. There has been very little wear/tear to the car, since I bought it over 7 years ago.
I’ve owned this Coupe since March of 2018 and I’ve enjoyed every minute. The car drives great. It handles like a go-kart and the S52 inline 6 pulls nice and hard.
Unfortunately, I think the time has come for me to give someone else a turn. I just don’t drive it enough these days. Current mileage is only 50,700, but that will go up slightly as I drive the car once every 7 to 10 days to keep everything running smoothly. I’ve only added about 5,000 miles to the odometer during my ownership.
I’m the 3rd or 4th owner. I think that the so-called 3rd owner was a dealer. I have the clean title ready to transfer to the new owner. No accidents and all original panels with VIN plates. Car has always been in Southern California or Arizona according to CarFax, so no salty roads.
I’ve done all the recommended maintenance during my tenure at German Motors & Imports in San Diego (Pacific Beach/La Jolla). I have all the receipts for the work that I’ve had done and those will be provided to the buyer. I replaced all the fluids, when I first bought the car because I did not receive any maintenance records from the previous owner. I also replaced the Flex Disk in 2019 because the material was cracking. Not much maintenance has been necessary (mostly just the oil changes).
The car is very close to stock. I did replace the Pedals with a much nicer set than the factory pedals. I’ve also added a “stubby” antenna and a LeatherZ Center Console, as well as a metal handle for the hood release (looks the same as the factory plastic handle, but it is much stronger). I have all of the original parts that I replaced and those will go to the new owner along with a set of Jack Pads that I bought for the car. I added a Jack to the Tool Tray in the back. I don’t think this was standard for the 2000 Coupes and it was not easy to find, but Ebay came thru. There are some other spare parts that will go with the car, including black Front Grills that are still in the packaging and a new set of Roundels for the wheels.
Also included with the car will be the original 3 keys, including the grey valet key. There are 3 key fobs that unlock the doors. The key fobs and electric lock controls are after-market. There was one key fob that came with the car when I bought it, but I found 2 more from the same manufacturer that are a more modern design.
All of the original manuals and paperwork with also be provided with the car, including the window sticker and the original bill of sale from Brecht BMW that was once in Escondido.
The only issues that I am aware of are the following:
Windshield Washer Fluid does not spray. I don’t drive in the rain, so it is not a problem for me. I’ve been told that this is any inexpensive fix, but it has not been an issue for me.
Voltmeter works intermittently. Sometimes it comes on, but most of the time, it is off. It does not appear to be a difficult fix, but again it was not a big deal for me. There are no other electrical issues and the battery has not had any problems.
Minor scratch and small scuffs on the front lower spoiler (shown in pictures).
Wheels were chromed by a previous owner and the chrome is showing it’s age (see pictures).
This is a unique opportunity to get your hands on a low mileage M Coupe that has been very well maintained, and it is in extremely good condition.
