This lconic,20 year old car has become an early classic that has earned a cult-like following. It was an unapologetic, engineer based design that bucked the moderate course for one that is special in many ways. By adding the hard top, the attributes of the roadster were enhanced with a much stronger and more ridged chassis that made curve carving a blast to be enjoyed by real enthusiasts. With the already proven S52 M motor the combination was a balance of power and grace.
This beautiful example is in outstanding condition mechanically and cosmetically.
Carfax shows one incident July, 2015 where a blowout caused a strike of a low median lip that whacked the rear suspension, axels, and wheels but did little to the body. All original major body panels. Work done by a BMW recommended facility. Car performs flawlessly and all sub-frame welds inspected as well as differential housing bracket. Tracks true and stops straight.
Maintenance since May 2016 includes two new Michelin Pilot Sport tires, new water pump, thermostat, housing and coolant. New belts and pulleys, fresh fluids and seat track bushings with driver s seat tilt kit. Total $2,750 this round.
