Even though I love this unique little car, I'm putting it up for sale to try out something else. What's for sale is a 1999 BMW Z3 M Coupe. If you've stumbled across this ad, you most likely know a little about these cars, but if not I'd encourage you to read up on their history a bit. They only sold a few thousand of these cars in North America over a four year span and they're becoming more and more desirable.
The car currently has just over 130k miles. It's my daily driver and has been fairly reliable in the time I've owned it and has been a blast to drive. It's rear wheel drive, has a 5-speed manual transmission, and has a 3.2L inline six that makes about 240hp and 240lb-ft of torque (enough to be quite a bit of fun). Basically it's the same engine as in the E36 M3. I haven't yet had a chance to smog the car, but I'll take care of fairly soon.

The car is basically stock, and has had several major maintenance items taken care of in the not too distant past:
- new rear shock mounts (E46 M3 mounts) ~70k miles
- full cooling system overhaul ~90k miles
- new guibo ~120k miles
- new transmission mounts ~120k miles
- new engine mounts ~123k miles
- new shift shaft seal ~123k miles
- new shifter bushings ~123k miles
- new lower control arm bushings ~123k miles
- alignment ~123k miles
- Ireland Engineering polyurethane rear subframe bushings ~123k miles
- all cooling system hoses replaced ~123k miles
- head pulled, re-surfaced, and put back with all new parts (head gasket, seals, etc.) by Edge Motorworks ~123k miles
- Z3 seat tilt mod (cheap fix to make the seat more sporty and comfortable) ~127k miles
Like I said, the car's very reliable now that the little things have been taken care of. It fires right up every time, doesn't overheat, and all the electronics work fine (including windows, heat, heated seats, AC, etc.). The only current item to address is the airbag light which came on sometime last year after raising and lowering the seat (electric height adjustment). I'm guessing a wire got nicked or a connection is bad as this is a common problem. It also has the very common 5th gear shift-pin issue, but like most people I've just lived with it since I've owned the car (basically the shifter sits toward 5th until the car is well warmed up unless you haven't gone into 5th gear in which case it's fine). This is another really common issue that a lot of people just live with as it's more an annoyance than anything else.
Since this car has been my daily driver for a while (plus the previous owner), it has a few nicks here and there and a few squeaks and rattles as expected for a car of this age and mileage. I tried to take pictures of the cosmetic defects, but there isn't much that couldn't be fixed with a bit of touch-up paint and a good detail. Oh, and the kidney grills and side gills are just painted with plasti-dip (has held up really well) but can easily be peeled off to get back to the chrome finish if someone prefers that.
The car has a stock set of roadstar wheels with Hankook RS3's (one of the grippiest street tires around). Sizes are 235/45R17 front and 255/40R17 rear with only about ~9k miles on them.
I'm asking $14,300 obo for the car. I'm not interested in trades, consignment, or part-outs. I'm also not interested in giving joyrides, so serious buyers only please. Let me know if you have any questions, want extra information, or want more pictures of something specific. Email is definitely the best way to reach me.
