Background
Offered from late 1998 to 2002, BMW sold just 4,749 Z3 coupes, and of those, only 2,698 bore the M badge. The Z3 M coupe is 2.7 times torsionally stiffer than its convertible counterpart. It uses a BMW M3 engine (BMW S52B32, as found in the US-spec E36 M3) in a body 199 pounds lighter than that of the four-seat coupe. The S52 produces 240 hp at 6000 rpm and 236 lb·ft torque at 3800 rpm.
As a result of their relative rarity, M Coupes retain more of their value than any other BMW since the E30 M3. The S54 M Coupe is the lowest production BMW that was not produced in a "limited production" run. Very collectible due to performance and low production run.
