Doug's Take
I absolutely love the "Clownshoe" BMW Z3 M Coupe, as it boasts quirky styling, excellent handling, a mandatory 5-speed manual transmission, and a potent 6-cylinder. This example is finished in a classic BMW color combination, and it features some nice equipment like a sunroof, heated sport seats, and a Harman Kardon sound system. Plus, this Z3 M Coupe benefits from having no major modifications, further enhancing its appeal.
Highlights
THIS... is a 1999 BMW Z3 M Coupe, finished in Arctic Silver Metallic with a black interior.
- A build sheet is provided in the gallery, and a partial list of notable equipment reported by the seller includes a limited-slip differential, a sunroof, heated sport seats, and a Harman Kardon sound system. Notable modifications reported by the seller include black kidney grilles and an aftermarket shift knob. Some of the removed factory parts are reportedly included in the sale.
- Colloquially known as the Clownshoe, the Z3 Coupe joined the Z3 roadster in showrooms for 1999. Like its convertible counterpart it used several E36-sourced parts, but it stood out with an unusual, shooting brake-like silhouette that blurred the line between a coupe and a hatchback. The M model benefitted from the same 3.2-liter straight-6 as the M3. Built in South Carolina, the Z3 retired in 2002.
- Power comes from a 3.2-liter straight-6, rated at 240 horsepower and 236 lb-ft of torque. Output is sent to the rear wheels via a 5-speed manual transmission.
