For sale is my 2001 Z3 M Coupe. This is a rare Alpine White S54 coupe, one of 31 built.
If you are unfamiliar with this car, this Jalopnik article might serve as a good refresher. It's a Z3 Coupe with the S54 engine from the E46 M3. Less than 700 were built, making this one of the rarest modern BMWs (BMW made 5,300 E30 M3s and 2,500 Z8s for the US market)
The car has almost 98k miles and I am the 3rd owner. This is my 3rd Z3 Coupe, and I am selling because I bought a 4th Coupe (2002 Laguna Seca Blue - my endgame Coupe). The exterior is Alpine White with a black nappa leather interior.
This example is perfect to serve dual duty: it has high enough mileage to enjoy, but also rare enough to hold or increase its value. The S54 M Coupes have been skyrocketing in value in the past 5 years thanks to their exclusivity and amazing driving experience.
The car has been completely mechanically refreshed. A longer list of maintenance can be found in the maintenance log below, but the suspension, steering, and cooling system have all been completely refreshed. The valve adjustment, VANOS service, and subframe reinforcement have all been completed, and a Blackstone oil analysis shows that the rod bearings are not an issue. The clutch and exhaust manifold/catalysts were replaced within the last 15k miles. I expect completely trouble free service for the foreseeable future.
Despite the high mileage, the car is in excellent cosmetic shape: I was invited to show it trackside at the BMW CCA Corral at the Laguna Seca Historics in 2019. The cosmetic condition is above average, but there is some light wear that is normal for the mileage and age. Pictures can be seen in the album below.
My asking price for a private party sale is $46,500, and I am happy to provide comparable sales.
The car is located in Mountain View, CA, and interested parties are invited to come take a look in person.
If you have any questions about the car, feel free to reach out!
