Seller Description

I've been a Z3 collector for years but this was my first M coupe. As much as I love the car, my wife and I discovered we enjoy our M Roadster better so I am selling this Imola Red M coupe.

These cars are incredibly rare. Each one was hand built in Greer South Carolina. The 99's came with the ultra reliable S52 engine straight from the E36 M3 and a slick shifting 5spd and limited slip differential.

1999 BMW M Coupe, imola red w/ imola & black leather interior. 64k miles, Harman Kardon stereo, heated seats and moonroof. Great condition, never tracked or driven in snow/salt & maintenance records since almost new. All stock w/ the exception of stainless steel custom mufflers w/ quad DTM tips. The exhaust sounds amazing!! 235's Toyo T1s tires in the front & 255's in the rear. The tires have plenty of tread left but are beginning to show their age. Redline in tranny/differential & have always used synthetic engine oil. Recent complete 60k miles cooling system maintenance done (metal impeller water pump, aluminum cover, etc). Runs great & no mechanical issues.

Electronic odometer shows 51xxx miles but original one was replaced by BMW under warranty at 12xxx miles due to a defective gas gauge (have all dealer records reflecting that). I also have the carfax and I figured the average BMW owner would be intelligent enough to realize there was no odometer fraud. I have all records going back to the original owner.

Some curb rash on wheels, the hood has some rock chips and a few heavier scratches that were touched up but would look better if they were wet sanded and polished. Rear passenger quarter panel was repainted by previous owner (paint matches perfectly). Interior is in excellent condition with minimal wear on the side bolsters. Z3 glove box fix already completed as well as seat bushings. I have a lot of pictures high-res for those who are seriously interested (please don't waste my time if you are not).

My Comments

Sold 4/16/11 - Back on the market for a day at $14,995 (down from $15,995) and sold for $14,300. The new owner replaced the tires and polished the hood and it looks great.

12/20/10 Update - Talked to someone who saw it in person. All four wheels have a quite a bit of curb rash, the tires are dry-rotted and would need to be replaced immediately, the driver seat bolster is pretty worn, the touched up scratches in the hood are from some kid writing his name on it, the center console has a crack by the AC button, and the window tint has seen better days. The mechanicals do only have 64,000 miles on them, but there will be some aesthetic work to do.

12/2/10 Update - Relisted on Craigslist and out of Coupe Purgatory. The seller said you can get an additional discount just by mentioning my site. Great deal!

9/10/10 Update - I knew it seemed familiar. The current owner just purchased this coupe in June. Here's the original sales listing.

I don't think this coupe will win any shows, but looks like a very nice condition driver. It seems to be well taken care of and owned by someone who also owns an M Roadster. It's had the common updates of seat bushings and glovebox fix done, and the DTM exhaust tips look nice. The water pump has already been replaced. Having almost all the maintenance records is another big plus. Considering the mileage, I'd say it's a pretty good deal.
