After five years of ownership, the time has come to sell my m coupe. The car has been an absolute blast but it’s time to move on. The car was originally sold in Florida and has spent the past 16 years in Chicago. I am the 3rd owner.
As far as maintenance is concerned, I’ve done my best to stay on top of everything. Most of, if not all, the shortcomings of the z3 chassis and the s54 engine have been addressed. This includes subframe reinforcement, glovebox repair, seat bushings, rearview mirror fix, vanos repair, and rod bearing replacement.
It should be noted that the engine was replaced with a lower mileage unit after the original engine threw a rod. Since taking ownership, I replaced the rod bearings with wpc treated ones just for peace of mind. The oil pump, engine mounts, and power steering lines were also replaced during this time. Vanos repair was done using the full beisan kit. A valve adjustment was done shortly after.
I recently had the front end resprayed (hood and front bumper) to fix the rock chips that had accumulated over the years. Overall the car presents very well. There are a few small blemishes, as expected with an 18 yr. old car. Three of the four wheels have curb rash on the original chrome shadow finish. There are also a few small dents and various spots of touch up around the car. Touch ups were done by the previous owner using dr. color-chip.
As for the interior, the leather is in pretty good shape with most of the wear being visible on the lower driver’s side bolster. There was a minor tear on the upper driver’s side seat cover when I initially got the car. I replaced it with a new oem leather cover. A new zhp shift knob and new floor mats will be included in the sale.
The car is mostly stock with the exception of bilstein sport suspension, h&r springs, h&r front and rear sway bars, stainless steel brake lines, a short shift kit, and a dinan strut bar. The previous owner had an aftermarket exhaust on the car with resonators welded into the mid pipe. I’ve reverted to the stock mufflers but have not replaced the mid pipe.
Tons of receipts and paper work included. Sold as is.
