This 2001 BMW M Coupe was originally owned in the San Francisco Bay Area and spent time in Texas before returning to California in 2010. The selling dealer purchased the car on BaT in March 2018 and has since added about 8k of its 90k indicated miles. Finished in Titanium Silver Metallic over black Nappa leather, the car has been fitted with TC Kline coilovers and is powered by a 3.2-liter S54 inline-six paired with a five-speed manual transmission. Service performed during the seller’s ownership included replacing the ignition coils, spark plugs, fuel pump, alternator, and belts. This M Coupe is now offered with a Carfax report, BMW car cover, service records, spare parts, and a clean California title.
Just 678 M Coupes with an S54 engine were built for North America, 190 of which were finished in Titanium Silver Metallic (354). The Carfax report notes that this example was involved in an accident in California, likely sometime between February 2002 and February 2005. Staggered-width 17″ Style 40 alloy wheels ave been refinished, though the tires are said to be in need of replacement. TC Kline coilovers were installed during previous ownership, as were wheel spacers that push the wheels out 15mm in the front and 10mm in the rear. The factory strut assemblies are included in the sale.
The cockpit is upholstered in black Nappa leather (Q6SW) and features a color-matching dash, door panels, and carpets. The latter are protected by M-branded floor mats. A leather-wrapped UUC Motorwerks RK6 shift knob has been installed, and the car is also equipped with navigation as well as a Harman Kardon audio system with an iPod dock and six-disc CD changer.
Instrumentation consists of a 170-mph speedometer, 9k-rpm tachometer, temperature gauge, and fuel-level indicator, as well as a trio of auxiliary gauges mounted in the center stack. The digital odometer shows 90k miles, about 8k of which have been added by the selling dealer.
The 3.2-liter S54 inline-six is equipped with individual throttle bodies and sends power to the rear wheels through a ZF five-speed manual gearbox and a limited-slip differential. The ignition coils and spark plugs were replaced in March 2020, and a new fuel pump and alternator were also installed during the seller’s ownership. A pre-purchase inspection noted weeping from the VANOS line and an inoperable ambient temperature gauge, and the selling dealer reports an oil leak from the constant pressure valve.
