This 2002 BMW M Coupe shows just 37k miles and is one of 340 examples built during the final year of production for the model. Powered by a 3.2-liter S54 inline-six paired to a 5-speed manual transmission, this example was acquired by the seller in 2012 from its original owner in the San Francisco Bay Area with 29k miles. The car had been maintained by German Motor Specialists in Sunnyvale, California and is now serviced at La Jolla Independent BMW Service. Finished in Steel Grey Metallic over Black Nappa leather, the car is unmodified apart from an aftermarket head unit and a dealer-installed alarm system. This M Coupe is now being offered in California with service records from new, an accident-free Carfax, and a clear Wyoming title in the seller’s name.
Just 47 M Coupes were finished in Steel Grey Metallic over Black Nappa leather, and this example retains its original body panels as confirmed by the VIN tags shown in the gallery below. Staggered 17″ M Roadstar wheels wear Bridgestone Potenza RE-11 tires and show some curb rash. The car has reportedly been garaged from new.
The Black Nappa leather interior looks to be in good condition, with some age-related creasing visible on the seats. The interior features an aftermarket head unit, though the original stereo is included in the sale. A dealer-installed alarm indicator can be seen on the switch bank in front of the gear shifter, and the auto dimming mirror fluid has been drained to prevent it from leaking onto the dash. The seat rail bushings were replaced in 2016.
The 3.2-liter S54 inline-six remains stock and is paired to a 5-speed manual. The seller has performed his own fluid changes, though more intensive servicing has been performed by La Jolla Independent BMW Service during his ownership. The valves were adjusted 400 miles ago, and the coil packs and spark plugs have been replaced. An oil change was conducted and a new air filter installed at 35k miles, and fresh transmission and differential fluid was also added at the same time.
The subframe has been inspected and is reported to remain in good condition. Photos of the undercarriage and brakes are shown in the gallery.
Service records are available from new as shown above. The accident-free Carfax can be seen in the gallery and confirms the two owner history.
