Seller Description

This 1999 BMW M Coupe is finished in Cosmos Black Metallic over black leather and was purchased new by the seller from Rasmussen BMW in Portland, Oregon on March 12, 1999. The car is powered by a 3.2-liter S52 inline-six paired with a 5-speed manual transmission and optioned with a power glass moonroof. Early in the car’s life, the seller modified it with a cold-air intake, mass airflow meter, throttle body, and ECU software from Dinan, along with an AC Schnitzer exhaust, suspension system, and wheels. A Passport SR-1 radar detector, clear exterior lenses, and braided stainless steel brake lines were also added. This E36/8 now shows 46k miles and is offered with three sets of wheels, its window sticker, a clean Carfax report, owner’s manual, and a clean Oregon title in the seller’s name.

A total of 2,180 S52-powered M Coupes were built for the 1999 and 2000 model years, of which 246 were produced in these colors with a moonroof. The seller reports a few stone chips on forward-facing surfaces plus a touched-up ~1″ scratch on one of the front fenders. This car has reportedly been garaged from new, and the included Carfax is free of accidents or other damage.

According to the seller, the AC Schnitzer suspension system dropped the car by 0.5″ up front and 0.75″ in the rear. Slotted brake rotors, stainless steel lines, and performance pads have also been fitted. The factory 17″ Roadstar alloys are currently mounted on the car and wear new Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires. Also included in the sale are the set of 18″ AC Schnitzer Type III alloys pictured above, which are mounted with 225/40 front and 285/30 rear Bridgestone Potenza S-03 Pole Position tires, and a set of 17″ SSR Competition wheels with Kumho VictoRacer tires.

This Z3M Coupe features a black leather interior with a factory power tilting moonroof. The rear cargo area is shown in the gallery, and the rear hatch struts were replaced in April 2019.

Factory equipment includes heated seats, a Harman Kardon stereo system, air conditioning, power windows/mirrors/locks, and more. The digital odometer shows just under 46k miles.

The 3.2-liter S52 inline-six sends power through a 5-speed manual transmission. Output was 240 horsepower and 236 lb-ft of torque when new. The Dinan cold-air intake, mass airflow meter, throttle body, ECU software, and dual-exit AC Schnitzer exhaust were installed by the seller shortly after their purchase.

The window sticker shows delivery to Don Rasmussen Company in Portland, Oregon, along with a $42,670 total retail price.

Previous Listing:
AC Schnitzer suspension, exhaust, and type III racing wheels. Dinan stage 4 engine. PP S03 tires. BMW premium sound with 6 disk changer. 3 sets wheels/tires (SSR Comp w/VictoRacers, Stock throwing star w/Yoko's), all wheels unblemished. Euro lenses. Street performance pads and slotted rotors w/braided lines. All synthetic, including brake fluid. Tool kit and mobility kit. Never driven in snow. Very little rain. Griots car care. Never wrecked or damaged. Garaged and covered. Loved by adult driver since birth. One owner (me). A wonderful true sports car with good looks, nice body and strong mind. My baby since 3/11/99. I don't drive her enough, so I'm doing the honorable thing. I don't want to sell to a novice (she's near perfect and doesn't deserve to be wrecked). Car drives, handles, and stops wonderfully. Needs good home of enthusiast who will care for her and drive her as intended - like an "M".

Back on the market after more than 2 years. It looks to be in great shape and I like the modifications. Including all 3 sets of wheels is fun too. Bidding is already up to $23,000

It sounds like a babied one-owner. It has some cool modifications; I wish they had posted some photos. The asking price is pretty optimistic for the mileage and color combo.
