The 1st Gen M Coupe is seldom seen as only 5,179 were built from 1998-2002, which includes European right hand drive, European left hand drive and North American M Coupes.
Finished in its original color of Imola Red with Black Nappa leather interior, the car is in great condition. From 1998-2002, only 422 M Coupes were produced in Imola Red. The paint is in good condition, showing only minor rock chips to the front clip, some chipping on the lower front fascia and the front BMW emblem is chipped. The coupe shows well overall! No door dings or scratches to the body which is straight. As the M Coupe was geared more towards the high performance racing crowd, the sunroof only vents up and does not slide open entirely.
Inside, the Black Nappa leather interior is in excellent condition with no significant wear. The seats are both in great condition with no major wear to the bolsters. No rips or tears to any of the seats. The black carpet looks great as does the dash, steering wheel, headliner and door panels.
Under the hood, the 240 horsepower S52 inline 6 cylinder runs great and is a rocket on the road. The engine can be heard rumbling through dual exhaust. Mated to the sought after engine is a 5-speed manual transmission and the car shifts as it should with no problems. The engine compartment is clean and tidy. In the trunk you will find the original carpeting without staining. The coupe sits aggressively upon a set of staggered original 17” BMW alloy wheels that are all in great condition. The wheels are wrapped in P225/45R17 tires in the front and P245/40R17 tires in the rear with plenty of meat left.
