Seller Description

This 2001 BMW M Coupe is one of 41 examples that were finished in Imola Red over Imola Red and black Nappa leather and powered by a 3.2-liter S54 inline-six paired with a five-speed manual transmission. The car was first registered in Tennessee and spent time in Texas, Washington, and California before being acquired by the current owner in 2017. Work performed during current ownership consisted of installing a Rogue Engineering differential cover with upgraded mounts, replacement of the connecting rod bearings, seat rail repairs, and a repaint of the hood and roof. Equipment includes a 3.73:1 limited-slip differential, Ireland Engineering subframe bushings, Koni strut inserts and shocks, an adjustable sport suspension kit from TC Kline Racing, Dinan-style mufflers, and a Rogue finned differential cover with upgraded mounts, heated sport seats, air conditioning, cruise control, and a tilting sunroof. The sound system has been upgraded to include an Alpine CD player, an amplifier under the luggage area, and a JL Audio subwoofer. This M Coupe indicates 37k miles and is offered by the seller on behalf of the current owner with a factory head unit, a repair manual, service records from current ownership, a clean Carfax report, and a Planned Non-Operational California title.

The M Coupe distinguishes itself from the contemporary Z3 by its unique fender vents, round exterior mirrors, and revised front and rear bumper covers. This example is finished in Imola Red (405) and features a sunroof, a rear window wiper, and dual Dinan-style exhaust outlets. The roof panel was repainted by Camarillo Auto Body of Camarillo, California in 2017 and the hood was refinished by the same facility one year later.

Factory 17″ Style 40 wheels are wrapped in 225/45 and 245/40 Hankook Ventus V12 tires. Work performed by Randy Forbes of Sports Cars Plus of Parrish, Florida, in November 2018 included reinforcement of the rear subframe, installation of Ireland Engineering subframe bushings, Koni front strut inserts and rear shocks, and an adjustable sport suspension kit from TC Kline Racing along with replacement of the rear trailing arm bushings, front lower control arm bushings, and front brake rotors.

The cockpit features partially power-adjustable and heated sport seats trimmed in Imola Red Nappa leather with black inserts as well as a two-tone dash and door panels, and black carpets. Additional amenities include air conditioning, cruise control, an Alpine CD player, an aftermarket amplifier and speakers, and a JL Audio subwoofer. The rearview mirror was replaced and both seat sliders were repaired during current ownership.

Instrumentation consists of a 170-mph speedometer and a tachometer with an 8k-rpm redline. Auxiliary VDO gauges in the center stack include readouts for ambient temperature, oil temperature, and an analog clock. The odometer indicates 37k miles, of which approximately 3k have been added by the current owner.

The 3.2-liter S54 inline-six features six individual throttle bodies and was factory-rated at 315 horsepower with 251 lb-ft of torque. The connecting rod bearings were replaced in November 2018.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission. A 3.73:1 limited-slip differential was installed by Sports Cars Plus in November 2018 along with with a Rogue Engineering dual-ear differential cover and reinforced mounts.

Photos of the trunk floor and subframe reinforcement are provided in the gallery.

The Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage and lists history in Tennessee, Texas, Washington, and California.

I've been waiting for this coupe to pop-up on Bring a Trailer. This one spent some time at my house then later had all sorts of great stuff done to it at Randy Forbes's including his subframe reinforcement kit and rod bearings. It's setup pretty much exactly how I'd have an S54 and will be a great, low mileage driver. I typically like to keep the stock headunit for the stereo, but this is far and away the best sounding system I've heard in a coupe, so I decided no to touch it. Bidding up to $20,250.00 so far.
