Seller Description

This 2001 BMW M Coupe is finished in Black Sapphire Metallic over black Nappa leather and powered by a 3.2-liter S54 inline-six mated to a five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The car was ordered without a sunroof, and equipment includes staggered-width 17″ Style 40 wheels, cruise control, heated and power-adjustable seats, and a CD stereo paired with a Harman Kardon sound system. The car spent time in Pennsylvania, Arizona, and California before it was acquired by the selling dealer and relocated to Illinois in March 2021. It now shows 36k miles, and recent service included an oil change and the replacement of the drive belts. This M Coupe is now offered in Illinois with a window sticker, service records, manufacturer’s literature, a clean Carfax report, and a clean California title.

The body is finished in Black Sapphire Metallic and the car was ordered without a sunroof. Equipment includes a rear wiper, fender vents, and quad exhaust tips. The hood and front bumper were refinished during prior ownership to repair scuffs. A chip in the windshield has been filled and a ding in the left-rear quarter panel was repaired with paintless dent removal. The seller notes the presence of chips in the lower flared sections of the quarter panels.

Factory 17″ Style 40 ‘Roadstar’ wheels wear Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ tires that were mounted in 2017. Curb marks are visible on the wheels and shown in the gallery below.

The cabin features power-adjustable and heated seats upholstered in black Nappa leather, and matching leather accents the center console and door panels. Amenities include air conditioning, cruise control, and a BMW Business CD stereo paired with a Harman Kardon sound system. A ZHP-specification shift knob has been installed, and the removed factory knob is included in the sale.

The leather-wrapped steering wheel features tri-color stitching and frames a 170-mph speedometer, a 9k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. The odometer indicates 36k miles, approximately 100 of which were added by the selling dealer.

The 3.2-liter S54 inline-six is equipped with individual throttle bodies and was factory rated at 315 horsepower and 251 lb-ft of torque. Service performed in April 2021 included an oil change and the replacement of the drive belts, along with a VANOS system test, the results of which are shown in the gallery below.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Additional photos of the underside are available in the gallery below.

The window sticker lists colors and equipment along with a total suggested retail price of $45,835. Manufacturer’s literature and service records are also included in the sale, along with magnetic stone guards shown in the gallery below.

The Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage and lists history in Pennsylvania, Arizona, and California through its most recent update in May 2018.
