Seller Description

This 2001 BMW M Coupe spent time in California before being acquired by the seller out of Arizona in May 2011 and subsequently driven to his home in Iowa. Finished in Black Sapphire Metallic over a black leather interior, the car is powered by a 3.2-liter S54 inline-six mated to a five-speed manual transmission and a factory limited-slip differential. Modifications include Ground Control coilovers, 18” Apex wheels, an aftermarket stereo, and more outlined below. Approximately 77k of the 120k indicated miles have been added by the seller, who is offering this M Coupe for sale with its factory wheels, service records beginning in 2011, a car cover, a Carfax report, and a clean Iowa title.

This example is one of 120 Black Sapphire Metallic S54-powered M Coupes built for the 2001 and 2002 model years and is equipped with a sunroof. The front bumper and hood were repaired and repainted following a parking lot accident in 2014, and photos of the damage sustained during the incident are provided in the gallery. Clear corner lenses and HID headlights have been added, along with aftermarket window tint and LED side marker and license plate bulbs. Clear-coat failure is noted on the rear bumper, and paint bubbling is present on the hood around the passenger wheel well.

18” Apex wheels are wrapped in Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires that display date codes from 2013 and 2014. Ground Control coilovers have been added, although the shocks, mounts, and springs reportedly require replacement, as do the rear brakes and the rear trailing arm and subframe bushings. The seller also notes a noisy wheel bearing. The factory 17” wheels are included in the sale.

Black leather seats are heated and manually-adjustable and show wear on the driver’s outer bolster. An Alpine head unit with satellite radio compatibility has been added, along with a Whalen aluminum e-brake handle and Ultimate aluminum pedals.

The leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift boot feature Motorsport stitching. Just over 120k miles are shown on the digital odometer, approximately 77k of which were added by the seller.

The 3.2L S54 features individual throttle bodies and was rated at 315 horsepower at 7,400 rpm and 251 lb-ft of torque at 4,900 rpm when new. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission. Euro-style headers, a Magnaflow exhaust system, and a Shark Injector were reportedly installed under previous ownership.

A recent Carfax report lists the accident in 2014 and displays history in California, Arizona, and Iowa.

I got to caravan with this coupe from Colorado to California for Dorkfest 2012 way back when. It's a driver, but it's a good one. I know the current owner would have taken good care of it. Bidding just started at $368 (as it should). The awesome fitted coupe cover is worth more than that :-).
