For sale is my Arctic Silver over Dark Grey 1999 BMW M Coupe with 163k miles. I am the 6th owner and bought it from a coworker in August 2017.

The car is currently located in Palo Alto, California.

I liked this car so much that I bought a later S54 Coupe. It doesn’t make sense to keep them both (though I have been driving them both for a year).

This Coupe has had the benefit of a series of gearhead owners, and in the past 15k miles the car has had a complete mechanical refresh with several hundred hours of labor.

While the car has been refreshed with mostly original parts, the major performance upgrades include a Bimmerworld lightweight clutch+flywheel+pressure plate kit, a low mileage 5spd replacement transmission, a 3.46 Torsen limited slip differential,  Koni shocks, poly rear subframe bushings, and replacement of all suspension bushings and rubber components.

Cosmetic condition is good but not great. The front bumper, rear bumper, and hood were replaced with R DOT parts by Weatherford BMW of Berkeley after an accident in 2006. The paint has some imperfections, and there are various scratches as you would expect with the miles. There is no rust underneath the car. The interior is above average for the mileage. The entire interior was disassembled and reassembled replacing all broken tabs and fasteners. There is normal wear on the driver’s bolster but no tears. As is common on Z3 M Coupes, the plastic trim around the AC switch has some cracks; however, everything works, including every interior light bulb. The headliner is sagging between the rear speakers and the sunroof. The wheels have oxidation on the barrels and some light curbing, as is common for the age and mileage. The tires have 3200 miles on them. The radio is a Pioneer digital media unit with bluetooth and is installed to the car using a plug and play harness (no wires were cut).

The mechanical condition is excellent. There are no leaks whatsoever. Not anywhere. Everything works. The low mileage transmission (45k) had all of the seals and detents replaced. I’ve driven it to LA and back several times in the past year without issue. The Torsen differential has a bit of a whine on deceleration at highway speeds, but works flawlessly. The whine may be exaggerated by the stiffer rear subframe bushings.

The rear subframe welds were repaired and reinforced in 2014 by TC Design.

Included with the car is a Thule roof rack with rectangular cross bars, the original 3.23 clutch diff, OEM Z3 Coupe Noah fabric car cover, original radio, owners manual, and one yard of color matched vinyl wrap which can be used to cover the sunroof glass and reduce heat in the car’s interior.
