With the primary goal of increasing the rigidity of the Z3 M Roadster, the coupe was designed as a small shooting-brake style sports car and proved to be over two and a half times stiffer that its roadster counterpart. This resulted in a spectacularly well handling vehicle in a uniquely designed body, lovingly referred to as the “Clown Shoe,” which would go on to receive numerous accolades from consumers and critics alike. Offered with a total of three power plants, this example is equipped with the later and more powerful S54B32 from the E46 M3. The motor runs exceptionally well and the 5-speed transmission sends 321 horsepower to the rear wheels without issue.
