Seller Description

With the primary goal of increasing the rigidity of the Z3 M Roadster, the coupe was designed as a small shooting-brake style sports car and proved to be over two and a half times stiffer that its roadster counterpart. This resulted in a spectacularly well handling vehicle in a uniquely designed body, lovingly referred to as the “Clown Shoe,” which would go on to receive numerous accolades from consumers and critics alike. Offered with a total of three power plants, this example is equipped with the later and more powerful S54B32 from the E46 M3. The result of such a powerful and well-balanced in-line six in such a small, nimble chassis is one of driving nirvana.

With only 60k miles from new, this M Coupe is a highly original example with excellent maintenance records. The motor runs exceptionally well and the 5-speed transmission sends 321 horsepower to the rear wheels without issue. The Schwarz Black Sapphire Metallic exterior over a Dark Beige Oregon interior shows very well and is a classic understated BMW color combination, showing only minor areas of wear on the driver side seat bolsters. The factory head unit has been replaced with a modern Bluetooth Kenwood unit, but an OEM radio is available and can be re-installed if desired. These cars are a true modern classic with a driving dynamic that harkens back to the days of analog connection to the road. For the Z3 M Coupe the phrase “Ultimate Driving Machine” was not just a catchy marketing campaign; it was a badge worn with honor.

This is the coupe that was for sale for a while in Florida this year. I heard from someone who looked at it a couple months ago that it needed some aesthetic TLC. It looks like it's been cleaned up better here, but I'd probably check it out in person. The price is fair if it has been cleaned up.
