Seller Description

This 1999 BMW Z3 M Coupe is up for sale with NO RESERVE!!! This BMW is a clean low mileage driver that was donated to the California Automobile Museum. This BMW is a great driver with lots of power. Current smog certificate. This BMW is ready to be driven home.

This 1999 BMW Z3 M Coupe is 1 of only 2,180 Built for North America and it came with the S52 Engine.

Exterior
The exterior of the car is in very good shape. It has a good shine to it and looks great. It is sure to get looks with its bright Imola Red Paint and beautiful flowing lines of this M Coupe. The sunroof works perfectly. This BMW was donated to us, California Automobile Museum, and had some cosmetic damage to the right side that was repaired by a local reputable BMW service center. The lower right of the bumper still shows some of the damage in 2 spots that have cracks. The inner plastic fender on the right front has some repairs to it that show it was cracked. We don’t believe it to have been considerable damage because none of the under hood structure’s or braces have any damage or were replaced and the CARFAX report came back clean.

Interior
The interior of this BMW M Coupe is done in black leather and is in great shape. The side bolsters on the seats are the only places that show any real signs of wear from getting in and out of this vehicle but are not torn or ripped. The carpets are in good shape and clean due to the use of the floor mats. There is a small crack on the center console just above the AC button.

Mechanical
This BMW runs strong and shifts great. As mentioned before it came back with a clean car fax. This BMW recently just passed smog and we have a current smog certificate in hand. The tires have roughly 4/32 on the front tires and 6/32 on the rear. All the lights and signals have been checked and operate correctly. The Air Conditioner blows cold and operates as it should. This is a very sound BMW. One issue that we have found is that the dash light are not in operation and this is due to the shift knob coming off of the shifter and the wire to the lighted shift pattern on the knob is broken, when this happened it shorted the rheostat in the dimmer control in the headlight switch. There are 2 fixes available for this that can be found by searching the problem online.

Overview
This BMW was donated to the California Automobile Museum. With that being said we only have the history that was shown on the CARFAX report that came up clean. This is a one owner vehicle.

My Comments

Sold 9/14/12 - Sold to a high bid of $17,850

9/13/12 Update - Bidding now up to $15,120

9/9/12 Update - Bidding up to $14,700

9/5/12 Update - Bidding up to $14,100

This could be a great deal for someone. It sounds like it could use some minor TLC and a very thorough detailing, but everything should be pretty easy fixes. They diagnosed the interior light problems well, and you'll just need a new headlight switch or to sodder a wire across the rheostat (ask me how I know). I'm also not a fan of the chrome roadstars. All in all, it's a low mileage one-owner with a $12k starting price.
