This 2002 BMW M Coupe (Chassis 5UMCN93422LK61113) is a preferred S54-engined, 315hp example that is offered on behalf of the second owner, a woman who purchased the car with 8900 miles. The car is totally stock, with all original Sapphire Black Metallic paint and never any accidents. It has enough miles to have benefitted from regular exercise over the years, and remains very well preserved. It is now available in Redwood City, California for $27,950.
These cars are rockets and many were tracked and abused. This one has never seen a track day, was never smoked in, and has all service records from new. Rear tires are brand new Michelins, and fronts have 80% tread. The seller notes that the only cosmetic imperfections are a door ding on the hood and a very small scrape on the right rear wheel.
We like this metallic black and the 2-tone grey/black interior. These cars came in some loud color schemes, and not all of them have aged well. This is one that can fly under the radar when needed. Carpets, dash, and seats are all in excellent condition.
The S54 engine in this car is the quintessential BMW powerplant, with beautiful throttle bodies, nearly 100 hp per liter with natural aspiration, and a raspy exhaust note. The engine bay of this car looks very clean, and has escaped the accidents and hard use that has caused so many to deteriorate.
Like so many interesting ///M cars, the values on S54 M coupes has stopped depreciating and stabilized, or even started heading upward for the nicest, low mile examples.
