Seller Description

1999 M Coupe is in near pristine condition. California registered and titled. Work relocated me to Nebraska in November, and she was put into storage (after a thorough prep) before first snow while I decided what to do with her. As spring has arrived, I've decided it's best if a new owner is found, so begrudgingly I place this ad.

Upfront, the only thing that may distinguish it from a younger sibling with fewer miles is going to be the paint issues on the front of the hood shown in the included photo.

The interior is close to perfect. The leather is soft and supple with no cracks. The dash has no cracks. The center console is fully operative and stock, with only the clock sometimes representing another time zone. The original shifter showing signs of use, but it still brightly illuminates. The head unit is stock, but the prior owner had an external amp and front speakers professionally installed because the originals were starting to show their age. The speaker grills are original, so there's no cosmetic difference from stock. Trunk area carpeting is perfect and the cover/divider is fully functional and free of blemishes. Still has factory mats. The rear view mirror was replaced with a more discrete aftermarket unit, but I have the original mirror, which will accompany the vehicle. Not sure what else to mention, as the interior is remarkable in its not needing much said; feel free to ask any additional questions if you have them.

Mechanically, stunning best describes her condition. When last at a BMW specialist in California, I was told it looked like the vehicle had half the miles the odometer reads. Everything is stock, but the prior owner had the welds on the rear subframe sured up, as those can be an issue on M coupes. She starts instantly, and runs incredibly smooth. Really not much to say. No squeaks; no leaks; no bumps; no lumps. Runs better than my 2-yr old VW (though w/o the ability in the snow and rear seat that I now find myself needing).

Please, contact me if you have any other questions, and if you're interested in coming out to see her, arrangements can certainly be made.
cheers

My Comments

Sold 4/18/12 - Sold to the only bid at $14,000

4/13/12 Update - The first bid met the reserve at just $14,000 which is a pretty good price.

4/11/12 Update - It sounds like the previous sale fell through, and it's now back on Ebay. Price has been reduced to $17,000 from $19,000 which is better.

Sold 3/20/12 - Ebay auction ended early because the coupe is no longer available. I assume it sold.

3/14/12 Update - This is now listed on Ebay after 3 months off the market. The buy-it-now price is now $19,000 up from the previous asking price of $18,000 on Craiglist. I assume the reserve is probably $18,000 or thereabouts. The new photos are much better and it is in pretty great shape for the mileage (maybe not quite as pristine as described though).

It seems like this is a pretty well cared for coupe. The sticky 2nd gear makes it seem like it could use the shift pin service sometime. The reinforced subframe is a very big plus though. Overall seems very nice but may be priced a bit optimistically for the mileage.
