We are pleased to present this 2002 BMW E36/8 M Coupe finished in Estoril Blue over an Estoril Blue and Black leather interior. A total of 678 North American M Coupes were equipped with the updated S54 engine, and only 75 left the factory wearing Estoril Blue paint. Of those 75 examples, just 13 were reportedly optioned with a matching two-tone Nappa interior and sunroof-delete roof panel. Acquired by the seller in May of 2020, this extremely rare 2002 model has been thoroughly serviced in preparation for sale and is now being offered for auction out of Florida showing just over 38k miles on the odometer.
This E36/8 sports rarely seen Estoril Blue (335) paint along with a desirable sunroof-delete roof panel. The M Coupe can be differentiated from a standard Z3 by its aggressive front fascia, widened rear fender flares, rounded side mirrors, side air vents, and quad exhaust finishers. A full paint correction was completed in 2020 followed by an application of clear protective film over about 70% of the vehicle and a subsequent layer of ceramic coating. The seller notes a few small chips have been touched up throughout the body, detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report. The original 17” Style 40 “Roadstar” wheels come mounted with Dunlop tires.
The cabin is fitted with a pair of M Sport Seats trimmed in Black and Estoril Blue Nappa leather along with matching door panels and center console. The three-spoke M Sport steering wheel features Estoril Blue accents and M tri-color stitching, while the instrument cluster includes unique gray dials with chrome bezels and variable tachometer lights. Driver’s amenities include a Harman Kardon autio system, BMW Motorola Startac on-board mobile phone, power windows and locks, automatic climate control, cruise control, and a center cup holder. The seller describes the cabin to be very well preserved with minimal signs of wear. A K40 radar detector system was installed under prior ownership.
This M Coupe is one of only 678 North American examples factory-equipped with the 3.2L S54 inline-six of the E46 M3. It produces up to 315 HP and 252 lb.-ft of torque, and drives the rear wheels through a ZF 5-speed manual transmission and mechanically locking limited-slip differential. The M Coupe also received a firmer suspension, thicker sway bars, more robust semi-trailing arms, and a strengthened rear subframe compared to the standard Z3. Recent service at 38,150 miles by WTF Motorsport of Orlando, FL, included an oil and filter change, a transmission, differential, and brake system flush, a new fuel filter, and new seat rail bushings. A mechanical inspection was also performed at this time with no issues detected.
This sale will include a clean title, owner’s manuals, and a battery charger. An absolute must-have for any BMW collector, this M Coupe sports one of the rarest and most desireable configurations of all.
