Seller Description

1999 S52 M Coupe

Long-time BMWCCA member and enthusiast - selling my 1999 BMW M Coupe.

The why: Let me start by explaining why I'd choose to part with such an amazing car. The M Coupe is one of eight BMWs I currently own and one of 10 I have in my overall fleet. For the last year I've been renting a space to store the bulk of them. But now I've started building out a garage addition at my current house - a 34x24 GarageMahal.

As construction projects tend to do, the budget is getting a bit wacky. My goal all along was to pay for the garage with cash and that has become impossible without some car liquidation. I've made the decision to sell four of the eight BMWs. The M Coupe is easily the most sellable - it's ready, has a clean title and needs very little. The others have their warts - so the M Coupe is first.

The what: 1999 BMW M Coupe is Estoril over Estoril/Black. S52 Motor, custom 3.46 Torsen differential.

I bought this car from another enthusiast about this time last year. He had it listed on Craigslist in Portland and on R3vLimited. I had it shipped from Portland to Lawrence, KS last year and it's been garaged on a trickle charger ever since. I've only put about 1200 miles on it - 450 coming on a road trip to Omaha this Spring.

It has receipts starting from what I believe is the second owner. Currently sitting at 141717 miles. Original odometer failed and was replaced at 55518 according to the previous owner, so the new odometer shows 86199 miles.

Clutch and flywheel have about 27k on them. S54 radiator, H&R Race Springs and Koni SA Dampers.

Here's a rundown of the maintenance receipts I have since 2012.

76945 miles
Replaced coolant and heater hoses, flushed, changed tranmission oil, changed diff oil, changed oil and filter, expansion tank

84555 miles
Oil and filter, air filter - driver side door lock actuator, fuel filter
New Battery
Blind Plug and White Window Guide

90760 miles
Oil and filter, air filter

95358 miles
Subframe bushings, upper rear shock mounts, front shocks, rear shocks, front and rear springs, new tires

99654 miles
Oil and filter, air filter

101867 miles
Replaced main belt and idler and tensioner pulleys

105143 miles
Rebuilt diff installed (3.46 gears)

106805 miles
Oil and filter, air filter

113253 miles
Oil and filter, air filter, wiper blades, clutch master cyl, pedal, pedal bushings

119891 miles
Oil and filter, air filter, power steering fluid, charcoal cannister, purge valve

126354
Oil filter / air filter

126354
Oil and filter, air filter, new coil packs, replaced spark plugs

Since owning it, I've done very little (and driven it very little). I did an oil change shortly after buying it - 141541 miles - 5w30. I also added a new set of factory cloth mats. I have a replacement set of door handle gaskets that will get replaced prior to sale. I will also include a ColourLock Estoril Blue liquid leather and dye - which I used to repair a worn area on the driver's side bolster. I also did a full paint correction and headlight restoration - paint is in excellent condition. I did also add a set of magnetic rock guards for protection. Can easily be removed.

There are a few things it needs to be driver+ quality. The rear wheels need refinishing - there is paint peeling and in general, look average. It looks to me like they were previously refinished. Previous owner mentioned a need for an eventual detent service - though I never had an issue with 5th gear. There is an area in the driver's door panel, up toward the front, where the leather has bubbled a bit (shown in pics). The dead pedal is cracked. There is a slight popped seam on the drivers seat bottom (shown in pics).

Overall, this is an amazing car. It pulls hard and is an absolute blast to drive. It handles magnificently.

Asking $17,000. Willing to work with buyer on the logistics of shipping. I ship a number of cars each year and am familiar with the process.

If you happen to be in the market for a different BMW, I'm also selling a '91 E34 M5 (Brilliantrot), an '88 E30 Convertible (Zinnoberrot) and a '99 E36 M3 Convertible Auto (Cosmos) with a hardtop (with a nice Dinan package). All good cars but they each have a wart or two.

As mentioned we saw this coupe about a year ago. It still looks pretty good for the mileage and has had some past maintenance. The price seems very fair.
